Day 1
Arrive in Shannon airport and meet your tour driver, before travelling south
through County Limerick to Tralee in County Kerry and then out along the Slieve
Mish Mountains through Annascaul to Dingle Town. You will have time in the
afternoon to get settled and maybe have a walk out along the sea to try to
spot 'Fungi' the local dolphin. Dinner will be at the hotel that evening.
Overnight : Dingle
Day 2
After breakfast, you will all travel out towards the village of Ballyferriter and
here we will drop off the golfers. The non-golfers will enjoy a scenic drive
around Slea Head, stopping at Gallarus Oratory and if interested at Louis
Mulcahy Pottery. We will return for the golfers and you can have lunch at the
golf club or local spot if you prefer.
In the afternoon, we travel back in by Annascaul, if you are thirsty, perhaps
stop for a drink at the South Pole Inn. This was home to the Antartic Explorer,
Tom Crean, he accompanied both Scott and Shackleton on their Antartic
expeditions at the turn of the 20th Century.
Then we continue on by Inch
Strand, made famous by the movie 'Ryan's Daughter'. We will arrive into
Killarney in the afternoon for you to get settled into your hotel. Dinner
will be at the hotel.
Day 3
Everyone is touring together today, we will visit Muckross House and Ross Castle in the
morning, leaving the afternoon free for you around Killarney. Dinner at hotel.
Day 4
Departing Killarney, you will travel via Kilgarvan to Kenmare
and on down to Bantry, from there we will go over to Skibbereen
and on around to Clonakilty and over to Kinsale, to your hotel.
Dinner is at the hotel and then maybe go for a drink one of the
local bars afterwards.
Day 5
Golfers - an early start for you, heading out to the Old Head Golf Course.
Non Golfers - the coach will come back for you after dropping off the golfers and you will travel north to Blarney to shop at the Woollen Mills. Then we return back to Kinsale to meet the golfers at the Old Head Golf Club.
You are free for dinner this evening in Kinsale.
Day 6
We leave Kinsale today, travelling up to Cobh to St. Colman's Cathedral. Then
we push on to Waterford by the coast via Youghal and Dungarvan to the Crystal
Factory in the afternoon.
The showroom here is filled with spectacular examples
of the famous glass and anything you buy can be shipped back home for you. We will
continue on north then up to Wicklow for dinner and overnight.
Day 7
Golfers : You can play at Druids Glen Golf Club.
Non Golfers : You will have a morning tour of Wicklow, the Garden of Ireland
including a visit to Glendalough, the 6th Century Monastic Village, founded by
St. Kevin.
Most of the buildings still remaining date from the 11th Century
including the perfectly preserved Round Tower. This used house the monks and
their valuables when attacked by Vikings. The walks around the lakes are really
peaceful and it is easy to see why this valley was picked for a monastery.
On returning to pick up the Golfers, we will then head into Dublin City,
your home for the next three nights. Dinner at hotel.
Day 8
A morning city tour will give you a good feel for the city, you will pass by
the GPO, headquarters to the leaders of the 1916 Rising. Phoenix Park, the
largest green area in a European City, also home to Ireland's President and the
American Ambassador.
You will also see the Customs House, Trinity College, St.
Patricks Cathedral, and Christchurch. In the late morning, we will stop at
Guinness Storehouse where you can see the home of the famous 'pint' and see the
history of the company intertwined with Dublin's history. After the 'education'
you can have a pint in the Gravity Bar overlooking the city.
You will be free for the afternoon for your own sightseeing and shopping. You
are free for dinner this evening. Overnight Dublin.
Day 9
Golfers - You can play any of the courses in the Dublin area - K Club /
Portmarnock / Baltray / Royal Dublin..
Non Golfers - In the morning, you will travel to the Golf club and after
dropping off the golfers, you travel West to County Meath making a visit to
Bru Na Boinne visitors centre and joining a tour to visit Newgrange, the 6000
year old passage grave.
In the afternoon after collecting the golfers, you have a
free afternoon for your own explorations - perhaps, have coffee on Grafton St.
in the newly renovated Bewley's Café. Stroll around the narrow streets at the
back of Grafton St, discovering local boutiques and market stalls in the
Victorian marketplace 'Georges St. Arcade'.
Walk down to the Liffey and over
O'Connell Bridge. to the Boardwalk over the river, wander into the Old Picture
shop near Capel St. bridge and look through all the old photos of all the
places in Ireland. If you see any you are interested in, you can buy them
quite reasonably, they are an original souvenir. Walk back up through the
cobble lock lanes of Temple Bar.
Dinner is booked at the Knightsbridge Bar,
music and Irish Dancing starts at 21h30. Ovenight Dublin
Day 10
Travelling north today, you will be crossing the border to Northern Ireland and travelling
through County Armagh to County Down. We will make a stop at Belfast and you will see
around the city. Then on to your hotel in Portrush for dinner and overnight.
Day 11
Golfers - you can play a round at Royal Portrush.
Non - Golfers - this morning we are going around the Causeway Coast to see the
Giant's Causeway and Dunluce Castle and then we will join up with the golfers
and in the afternoon, we travel over to Bushmills for a tour of the distillery
and a taste of the end product. Dinner and overnight at Hotel.
Day 12
We depart Northern Ireland, heading over to Derry, where you can have a stop
for a short walk around the walls of the city, then over to Letterkenny to
visit Glenveagh Castle and National Park. This remote castle was once a hunting
lodge and this is apparent from the décor.
The grounds are still home to
some deer and can sometimes be spotted on the estate. We continue over to
Rossnowlagh for overnight and dinner at the Sand House Hotel, where your
rooms are overlooking the sea.
Day 13
We travel south today and can take the road through Sligo down to Charlestown to
Knock village, if you like, you can stop to see the Apparition Chapel, the spot
where Our Lady appeared to several villages in the early 1900's. Then we continue
down into Galway for the evening, dinner at hotel .
Day 14
Today, we travel out around Connemara, the Gaeltacht area of Ireland, where the
road signs are in Irish and most locals still speak the language as their first
language. The scenery is quite rugged but very beautiful. Return to Galway for
overnight and dinner at Hotel.
Day 15
Travel south into County Clare today, to the Cliffs of Moher and the nearby village of
Doolin before, travelling on to Dromoland Castle Golf Club to drop off the golfers for
a round. Then on to your hotel, for dinner and overnight.
Day 16
Transfer from to Shannon for your flight home.
